Hillside, NJ, NOV 15-16, 2016 – Abeles & Heymann (www.abeles-heymann.com), a New Jersey-based company that has specialized in premium glatt kosher deli for more than half a century will exhibit at the 28th annual Kosherfest trade show at the Meadowlands Exposition Center in Secaucus, NJ. November 15-16, 2016.
This premier deli company, known for its award-winning secret recipes handed down by original owners Oscar Abeles & Leopold Heymann, is being led into the 21st century by CEO Seth Leavitt. Still a family-run company, Leavitt has helped Abeles & Heymann increase sales ten-fold by widening distribution (now available at BJ’s Wholesale Clubs) and spreading the tasty word on social media with contests, recipes and event sponsorships. In Leavitt’s latest move, Abeles & Heymann will soon introduce new packaging as well.
In addition, Leavitt transferred production of its vast array of deli items to a state-of-the art facility in northern New Jersey, partnering with the manufacturing arm of an Israeli Kibbutz, (Ma’adany Yehiam, makers of the Hod Golan line of turkey products) to produce over 1,000 tons of highest quality glatt kosher deli a year.
Best known for their plump and delicious hot dogs, Abeles & Heymann also makes beef fry, kishka, cervelat, knockwurst, cocktail franks, salami, corned beef and pastrami. They also offer chipotle franks, a line of uncured hot dogs with no nitrates or nitrites added, as well as uncured hot dogs with reduced fat and sodium.
Award Winning Hot Dogs
In 2005 and then again in 2013, Abeles & Heymann kosher franks were voted top hot dog, each time beating out large conglomerate producers including Ballpark, Applegate Farms and Hebrew National, among others. In 2005 the St Louis Post Dispatch wrote: “3 Stars – medium red color, nicely chewy, well balanced flavor, not a lot of saltiness; nudged out Ballpark for top spot with a bit better overall flavor.” And in 2013, The Forward hailed Abeles & Heymann hot dogs as “spectacular, juicy and meaty with a crisp bite and rich beef flavor.”
History of Abeles & Heymann
In 1954, Oscar Abeles & Leopold Heymann opened Abeles & Heymann, a butcher store in the Bronx, NY. In 1997 Seth Leavitt and his attorney cousin David Flamholz bought out Mr. Heymann and his wife Sophie. Oscar Heymann, the only surviving partner, stayed on for over a year to teach the two young guys how to make the perfect hot dog, among other deli delights, in his Bronx facility.
