Retired Foodservice Executive, Sysco Corporation


Mr. Brown grew up in the foodservice business working for his father who roasted and sold coffee to the industry. He joined Sysco in 1980 as a Marketing Associate of what was then known as Plantation Sysco which was one of the nine (9) founding companies of Sysco.  In 1982, he was promoted to Manager of Specialty Accounts, and again in 1984 to Manager National Accounts.  During 1988, he was promoted to Vice President Business Development. Mr. Brown also served as Vice President Territory Sales, Senior Vice President Sales, and Executive Vice President.  In 1996, he was promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer and in 1997 he became President and CEO of Sysco South Florida. In June 2009 Mr. Brown was promoted to CEO of Sysco South Southeast Florida, CEO of Sysco Central Florida, and CEO of Sysco Jacksonville, and in 2010 to the position of Market President Southeast United States, Foodservice Operations (Florida).
Through his successful team development, Sysco South Florida continued to grow and prosper, giving birth to two additional Sysco operating companies in Florida.  Mr. Brown’s philosophies was to keep the customer first as he continued to lead his team with state of the art technologies.  While his focus was satisfying a diverse customer base, he also kept the 600+ employees that complete the Sysco South Florida family a high priority. During the last 6 years of his career with Sysco his responsibilities expanded to managing the operations of seven (7) Sysco companies.  Mr. Brown announced his retirement in July 2016.
Mr. Brown formerly sat on the board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Miami-Dade County, and has worked closely with the alumni committee for University of Miami.
Mr. Brown, a native of Miami earned a B.A. from the University of Miami.  He enjoys fishing and spending time with his family.  He and his wife live in North Miami
